Ford Transit wrap ideas: layouts for every roof height
The Ford Transit comes in three roof heights and more than one length. A layout that fits a low roof van can look empty on a high roof. This guide matches layout ideas to each roof height, shows where text should sit around the Transit's doors and body lines, and lists what one shop charges per model.
All example companies are fictional. To see the layouts with your own name, open the free van wrap design tool.
Know your Transit
Chicago Fleet Wraps wraps the T-150, T-250, and T-350 in regular, medium, and high roof, on 130 inch and 148 inch wheelbases (>Chicago Fleet Wraps). It notes a few things that change the design:
- Body lines. Ford stamps deep lengthwise character lines into the side panels. Small text over a body line gets bent.
- Sliding door. The door gets wrapped as its own piece, with film worked into the track channel. A design that runs across the door is split at the seam.
- 50/50 rear doors. Exposed hinges and a center split. Text across the split gets cut in half when one door opens.
- Size spread. The shop says a regular low roof van and an extended high roof present side shapes that differ by about 60 percent. That is why a layout has to fit the roof height.
Ideas by roof height
1. Low roof: bold stripe and big phone
A low roof Transit has a short side panel. Use a stripe at the beltline and keep the name and phone large on the clean white above it. Skip long service lists. Three words of services fit. Ten do not.
2. Low roof: two-tone with the phone on the dark band
Color the lower third. Put the phone number in an accent color on that band. Put the name on the white upper panel. This layout suits a short van because it splits the side into two clear zones.
3. Medium roof: name across the top, swoosh below
The medium roof adds a band of flat panel above the window line. Run the business name across it. Start a swoosh behind the sliding door so the seam does not cut the curve.
4. High roof: two-level layout
A high roof Transit is close to a box truck in side area. Treat it as two levels. Upper level: name and logo, sized to read from down the block. Lower level: phone and website at eye level. Chicago Fleet Wraps recommends leaving the roof itself unwrapped on high roof builds, since it is not visible from the street, and moving that budget to the sides and rear (>Chicago Fleet Wraps).
5. Any roof: color block over the cab
A solid block over the front doors and the panel behind them. The rest stays white. The cab door carries the name, phone, and license line. It costs less than a full wrap and looks planned.
6. Transit Connect: door lettering
The Transit Connect is a small van with short sides. Name and phone on the front doors, the website on the rear. A partial or full wrap adds less on this van than on a full-size Transit.
Where each piece of text goes on a Transit
- Name. Upper side on both sides. Largest text.
- Phone. At eye level. On the curb side, ahead of or behind the sliding door, not across it.
- Website and phone on the rear. Put each line on one door, or set them on a band above the door split. Do not run a line across the split.
- License and DOT lines. Lower front door, on a solid color. See USDOT number decal requirements.
- Logo. Near the name, not on a body line.

FAQ
What are good Ford Transit wrap ideas? Match the layout to the roof height. A low roof suits a stripe or two-tone with a big phone number. A high roof suits a two-level layout with the name up top and the phone at eye level. Keep text off the sliding door seam and the rear door split.
How much does it cost to wrap a Ford Transit? Chicago Fleet Wraps lists $4,200 for a Transit 150 low roof, $4,650 for a 250 medium roof, and $4,900 for a 350 high roof. Lettering starts at $850 at that shop.
Should I wrap the roof of a high roof Transit? Chicago Fleet Wraps recommends leaving it bare on high roof vans because it is not visible from the street and takes the most sun and ice.
Is a free Ford Transit wrap mockup tool available? The free van wrap design tool shows your name, phone, and colors on a cargo van in 6 styles. Your shop fits the final design to your Transit model.
